Meeting was called to order at 3:58 PM by Chairperson Forshey who led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The special meeting was called to discuss potential agreement with Granville Township for fire and EMS service in Union Township.
Mr. Wolf provided a summary of the meeting held with Granville Township on January 31, 2020.
Granville Township was asked if they would agree to a 120-day contract at $275 per day, totaling $33,000, with the intent to negotiate further after a 90-day period. Granville Township did not agree to those terms but indicated they would agree to extend the current contract with the same compensation ($821 per day) for a minimum of 30 days, afterwards to continue on a day-to-day basis. After extended discussion, Mr. Prince moved to accept Granville Township’s proposal to extend the current contract at the same rate ($821 per day) until March 7, 2020. Chairperson Forshey seconded the motion. The motion carried 4-1.
Further discussion on a longer-term agreement will be held at the next meeting.
Leslee Herro (Union Township resident) asked how the rate of $328 was calculated. It was derived from the $35,000 allotted in the 2020 budget. She expressed that the issue with Granville Township is that they expect to receive a rate from the 4.8 millage.
Jeremy Doran (129 Stone Valley Dr.) asked when the board expects Station 2 to be operational. Mr. Prince answered 60-90 days, and further stated that it will be staffed with three people, a medic, and an engine. Later, a grass truck will also be there.
Mr. Prince moved to adjourn the meeting at 4:58 PM and Mr. Weekly seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
